Proof of residency

For Australian or New Zealand citizens: A valid Australian or New Zealand passport, citizenship certificate or evidence of Australian citizenship is required.

Note: If the student was born after 20 August 1986 and the birth certificate does not show that at least one parent was born in Australia before 20 August 1986, they must also provide evidence that a parent was an Australian Citizen or a Permanent Resident at the time of their birth (e.g. parent’s/parents’ Citizenship Certificate or Permanent Residency at the time of the applicant’s birth).

For Australian or New Zealand permanent residents: A valid passport photo page or IMMI Card is required.

For non-citizens or non-permanent residents: A foreign passport copy is required, and evidence of international status is strongly recommended. Students can also forego sending these materials if they declare themselves as international students.

For any proof of residency or for transcripts and application materials, first and last names must match. If names differ, please also submit a Marriage Certificate or Change of Name Certificate.

Resume

Applicants must submit a formal resume or curriculum vitae with all relevant academic and professional experience, including titles, dates, and mentions of full-time and part-time statuses.

Transcript(s)

Applicants must submit a digital transcript from all colleges and universities attended, as well as confirmation of degree completion. The digital academic transcript should show all studied subjects and marks or grades received.

If the previous colleges or universities attended provide official transcripts with an electronic certification feature, students must ensure that they upload a copy of the online electronic secured document (e.g., My eQuals transcript) before an unconditional offer can be issued.

Hard copies of transcripts will not be accepted. Please refer to the My eQuals site for information on providers that can issue a digital transcript.

TOEFL/IELTS scores

These scores are only required if applicant’s first language is not English. TOEFL/IELTS scores can be waived if:

  • a record of satisfactory achievement in previous studies in which the language of instruction, examination and assessment was English, or
  • successful completion of an approved course of study at the University of Sydney Centre for English Teaching (CET), with results that meet the minimum standards required for your preferred course.
