The University of Sydney’s innovative online Master of Cybersecurity will prepare you to make your mark on the rapidly growing field of data security. The course will support you to go beyond mastering the technical side of cybersecurity; you will learn to leverage professional IT and leadership skills to thrive across industries.
The University of Sydney also offers an online Graduate Certificate or online Graduate Diploma in Cybersecurity. These options will help you to upskill in a specific area to advance your career or to support you if you need a foundation in the field before applying to the master’s course.
The graduate certificate option is 24 credit points and the graduate diploma is 48 credit points. Learn more about the available study options.
To apply to the online Master of Cybersecurity from the University of Sydney, you are required to have:
- a three-year Australian bachelor’s degree in a cognate discipline* with a minimum credit average (65 percent), or
- the University of Sydney Graduate Diploma in Cybersecurity with a minimum credit average (65 percent), or a qualification deemed to be equivalent, or
- completed 24 credit points of the University of Sydney Graduate Diploma in Cybersecurity or Graduate Certificate in Cybersecurity with a minimum credit average (65 percent). The 24 credit points must include 12 credit points of Cybersecurity Core units and 12 credit points of Cybersecurity specialist elective units.
If you have the equivalent of an Australian AQF Level 7 degree or above in a cognate discipline, you may be eligible for a Reduced Volume of Learning (RVL) of up to 24 credit points or 0.5 years/one semester.
A cognate discipline must show significant study in IT or computer science areas, equivalent in volume of learning to a major or minor. This would include a degree in a discipline deemed cognate by the program directors, or a component within a degree not clearly in those disciplines.
